Unit 8 Job roles & Working patterns

In this volt I'll be explaining four very big and important roles in the TV industry and what kind of skills and qualifications you need in order to become one.

Editorial

Editorials are people wish work in the newspaper their personal options are pretty well written and thought out. What they write is mostly all just subjective with good points. As expected when stating an option the skills you would need is great writing and reading skills along with understanding. Editorials such as new editors should be very precise with what they are trying to say when stating opinions with long and great amount of information when comes to attention to detail so they don't comes with false information when talking about for example statistics to their readers. As an editorial you should try and be friendly to people as you try to gain information to better get your points across as new editors should have a good amount of commutations skills and you won't get far as an editorial without it.

As you state your options and is there for everyone to see you may get some back slash from some of the public that disagree strongly and even go out of the way to put you down so you need a lot of determination when facing thoughts kinds of people and not let anyone get in the way of your job.  News editors have a great amount of responsibilities as they are in control of what is broadcasted on TV.  If TV news editors didn’t watch over what allowed to be broadcasted could lead a high level amount of violence put on TV which such people dying on live TV. This would be seen as a crime as it is being broad casted. The qualifications of new editors would be a bachelor's degree in English and journalism.

Management

Being the manager of a company comes with many task and responsibility. It is a manager job to lead a specific part of the employees, which work under a manager. Managers there as a sub leader and as a person that supervise and gives advice to employees. Manager should try their best most often and encourage their employees to getting work done and be friendly to customers and employees.

By manager cheering up employees they are more likely to do their jobs better as they feel happy thanks to the manager. Employees are likely to work less good depending on their mood. Manager should have a lot of experience in a certain company and because of that should be able to have coaching skills so they can train new recruit employees. As a manager they should have outstanding leader ship skills and confidence so that employees look up to them as their idol.  Manager also would be working a lot as team leader with employees and so they need to work as team without too much trouble even if they don't like the person they are working with.

Technical

One type of technical would be director of photography. In order to become one of the qualification you'll need to take is a getting a degree in photography first of all another one would be also be a media agree along with an art degree.  Being creative is a really positive trait you should have to being a director of photography so that a record scene doesn't seem boring with plain to the audience. Have a great amount of knowledge when comes to lighting.  When visualizing scenes to being recorded director of photography should take into consideration health and safety so that no one gets hurt.

Creative

As a scriptwriter you don't specifically need any qualifications really. It would help that you had experience in journalism and it would boots your skills up in how to write a good script. If you want become a script write it would also help if you had done drama and know how to act.  What you specially need as a script work is outstanding writing as a skill. As a scrip wring you may get writer which why you should be really creative so that it doesn't stop you from writing. Scriptwriter needs to know how to take criticism without attacking someone option on what they have written so they don't get into arguments.

Contracts

A fixed term contract
A fixed term contract is made so to hire employees. This is so that employees in the TV and film industry follow a strict guideline. An example of the contacts would be when ever you are being called upon you must most often have to obey as the contract says you have as you have agreed to the following terms. Most contracts have an expiration date for the term of work they someone needs to do. An example of this would be a film editor working on postproduction of movie and they only needed to work three months until their contract end. This would mean that the editor doesn't have to work on editing on the movie any more unless the contracts has the rule in which the editor must finish editing the movie before the expiration date. Contacts can also be extended if the deadlines are not met properly.

Freelance
Freelance in the TV or film is pretty always appreciated as someone is self employed which means they are almost always free and can follow their own work schedule to better benefit them selves and not follow other terms. So with freelance you are have freedom to work as you like and you don't have to follow a strict guideline and you don't get fixed term contract unlike other being which are employed.  As a freelance you are expected be more a more professional and efficient worker, which makes you very valuable to a TV or film industry. The disadvantage of this would mean you have to found your own retirement

Irregular patterns

When coming close to deadline employees are advised to work longer hours so they get more work done so a contact doesn't need to be extended. As this would cause employees not be paid extra so employees will want to finish as fast as possible and go on to their next job.  Depending on your job role this also lead you to have different working ours to you piers.
