Unit 8 Developing technolgiers

Over the decades technology as been growing and just seem to keep on improving. This relating to the media industry how technology has specific grown for it.  The media of course stared of small as most things do but eventually grew. The first ever camera was called the Kodak, which was in 1889.

At first people could only ever watch movies in cinemas it was a  new brand thing which didn't cost much money. At the time movies where only black and white also had no idea so subtitles needed to be into the movies in order to understand certain stories only background music.   In 1990 this all changed as audio was finally was available for movies and there were no need for subtitles anymore, which took place in Paris where the media industry really began. The first actual real movie to have people talking in them would be in 1927 in real time. In the early 1930s most counties around the world had movies with audio in them.  The first ever movie to be in 3D in cinema was in 1922 that was called The power of love although he wasn't as high quality as of now. 

The first cinema to have been created was in 1905. The media industry have grown since then in 1940s the only channel that was available for the UK was the BBC which featured a multitude of things to watch. This was also around the time where most working class and up class citizens usually had a TV in their very own home. As the media industry grew more people begin to take interest into the big screen. Suddenly there were more channels that would appeal to a verity of people from gender, age and race. The draw back to having a TV in your very own home people were less inclined to go to a cinema to watch a movie which meant big movie companies such Hollywood were losing out on money. 

As the quality of technology increased cinemas upped their skills and made Imax 3D which felt even more realistic the out lines of the characters looked like they are coming of screen and everything is in front of you. Cinemas in Imax also get the chair to slightly move about when watching a movie to feel as if you are being affected by what you are watching as a whole new experience. 

In 1958 a lot of things were live on TV. The problem with live TV is that it didn't functional as well as does well as a lot of people didn't have the latest TV which why a lot channels didn't use them often as it would make them lose out on audience and potentially money. 

In 2008 mostly every single movie in cinemas would be 3D this is so tickets would cost more money for the audience to buy and so the film industry would also gain more profit it was a smart and strategic business plan. The problem was that the network was also growing which resulted in a lot of people just watching movies on their computers or their own TV with film subscription companies such as Netflix and amazon prime, which get updated regally, and even more their very own original TV shows. People can pre record something so that they can watch it later if they are not able to watch something currently making their very own schedule and so audiences don’t miss anything and both channels and audiences benefit from this.  

The amount of money that goes into buying equipment in order to get a high good quality movie now a days is ridiculously expensive. Which is why it’s hard for small film organizations, to make much money, as they have to have a lot of money in order to get started on the movie. Even if you make a cheap movie you are likely not able to get it advertised on TV because of how expensive advertising is on TV, which is why a lot of cheap made films aren’t heard of because they go straight to DVD, and not on cinemas. This is killing the film industry as a lot of people may have great concept for a movie but doesn’t have the money a lot of originality and good excitations for movies are rare now a days, as it seems everything has been done before.  

Unit 8 Contract & Trade union

Task 1

Exclusivity contract  is a type of contract which means  a movie company owns the licence to the movie they owner TV  such as unviversal so that other businesses such as love film and Netflix.  So since they don't own it doesn't count as a Netflix original so they don't have the licence for it.  The people benefiting from are obliviously the business company at owns the movie or TV  series no other business company can use it and gain money from it.

Task 2

Trade union are important to a business as their roles is to protect and insure that the employees feel satisfied in their working environment. Without the trade union a lot of employees would be underpaid and not gain as much money as they should which would lead to a lot of people quitting their jobs in search for another that pays better this would break business structure if employees kept quitting on their job and small business would lose a lot of respect making them lose money and gain a bad reputation for unsaying employees. People are expected to act kindly to each but also be treated with respect each and everyone.  The trade union is their to represent the employees in their hour of need which why they are critical to businesses.

Task 3

Trade fair  are most often these staged events which are used to promote a certain things from a business company . Sales promotion help businesses  increase the profit and rise a great amount of awareness. Trade fairs are most often are taken place in popular area and are held by well known business companies which attracts more citizens to check out the trade fair. 

Unit 8 Ethics & Codes of practice

Task 1

Ethics

Ethics are moral principles that govern a person's behavior or the conducting of an activity.


In the media industry ethics are when the TV/ industry follow a certain type of moral and let the public and government know what types of activities they are doing so that they don't get incriminated. This so that film and TV show are not doing any thing illegal that not real so that we get arrested for and let people know before so no one gets in trouble. This is also that set a good example for people how business should be run and not gain a bad reputation with the public.

An example in real life case would be when a citizen of the public saw someone with a sniper on the roof called a SWOT team. They had to formally apply for not annoying this this earlier to the public that the person with the gun was just an actor.

BBC code practice
Is only for the UK as BBC is only in the UK . It takes that the media industry can be and free and creative as they want want to be in their shows and who they should be competitive. The BBC have a duty to help independent product sectors. The BBC have commission agreements on making deal with people and help small businesses that are independent.



The Ethical codes of practice 
Ethics are skills and roles relating to business.  Their are five code of practices rights relationships, personal responsibilities, professional standards and safe working practice.  These codes of practice are what keep a business structure up right and professional being so successful is because they are implied to everysinlge employ. Knowing what a business goal is important to a business as thats what makes a business grow and improve.  This is why the codes of practice are so important to a business as without them a lot of businesses would end up failing. 



Task 4

Broadcasting act 1990 

The act broadcasting casting act 1990 was made only for the UK. This is the regulation for independent programs that are sound programs and radio frequencies. The 19990 broadcasting also is the reason for channel 5 to have been created thanks to the act.  The 1990 made it possible others to be benefited from this act, which happened to be the independent solo business companies, as they were not on contract and can pretty much, do a lot. 

For the present-day technology are greatly been improved and people have completely stopped using types cassette types and now don't even use DVD discs to watch movies and TV programs any more audience people are regularly business and don't have time to watch something they want can simply just record what they want to watch and watch later when ever they want. People now even have 3D televise in their own home. Instead of having to go cinema and pay about nine to sixteen pounds   just to go watch a movie people can now watch in their comforts of their own home. This leads to cinema making less money and people audiences are lowered until technology tv has become so great that even cinema become non existent.
